| I've spent a great deal of time teaching all over Eastern Oregon.
The open spaces, barren landscape and occasional irrigated fields
make me aware of the power of nature. This power is much different
from that of a forest. It is more threatening. You don't want your
car to break down either in the freezing cold winters or in the heat
of summer. Stars move like so many cogs in the bowl of the night sky.
